Security is a primary competency at Coinbase, and the Security Team keeps a watchful eye over every aspect of it. Every day, we go to battle against some of the most sophisticated attackers in the world to protect tens of billions of dollars worth of digital assets and ensure that our customers and employees can enjoy a safe, trusted experience.
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
At Coinbase, we believe that securely building onchain products is one of our key differentiators. Blockchain Security is essential to continuing to instill our customer’s trust in Coinbase and the onchain economy.
Our work is varied and spans both onchain and offchain systems — from secure storage of and access to key management infrastructure offchain to providing safe infrastructure for developers and users to interact with dapps, tokens, and other onchain infrastructure. Our goal is to detect and prevent security breaches through high quality assessments and successful remediation of security vulnerabilities.
- Expand and formalize our Blockchain Security program to drive continuous and ongoing risk assessment for our onchain products
- Build a comprehensive, prioritized assessment of the security risks that our onchain products face and a roadmap for mitigating those risks
- Develop onchain security strategies and provide security guidance for new onchain products and technologies
- Support teams in reviewing, auditing, and securing novel smart contracts and onchain infrastructure
- Lead the team in building new frameworks, analysis tools, and security systems for our onchain products
- Drive novel security reviews for onchain projects at the cutting edge of the industry
- Define best practices for onchain security and engage with product and engineering teams to get them adopted
- Provide technical mentoring for Blockchain Security team members
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
- You have extensive knowledge of onchain ecosystems, including the inner workings of L1 and L2 networks, DeFi protocols, and DAOs
- At least 4 years experience in Blockchain Security with expertise in the latest onchain industry leading products
- At least 8 years experience and solid foundation in information security with strong understanding of threat modeling
- You have a demonstrable expertise in the blockchain security with deep understanding of attacker-mindset
- High agency. You act as an owner and take full responsibility of the security function
- You have an energy and self-drive for continuous learning as crypto is a constantly and rapidly changing space
- You are passionate about mentoring and growing blockchain security engineers and have a willingness to learn from your team
- You excel in clear, direct, and kind communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- You have ability to develop relationships with security, product, and engineering teams
Nice to haves:
- You have experience in securing offchain products (e.g. signing service, wallets, nodes)
- You have hands on experience in building onchain monitoring technology
