JOB DESCRIPTION
Empower is searching for a talented problem solver to grow our business and manage credit risk of our lending products. You will be joining in the early stages of a fast growing company, and have the opportunity to jump right in on many exciting and impactful credit projects. The ideal candidate is passionate about using data and analytics to drive business growth and help customers improve their financial situations. This individual will own workstreams across credit policy, testing, and valuations and will be asked to take projects from ideation to execution. They will also need to partner with product, tech, and finance teams to build out solutions that drive value for Empower and our customers. The right person for this role is someone who shines while solving complex problems and is comfortable with a wide variety of technical tools.
Travel for company offsites is expected at a minimum 2 times a year.
Key Responsibilities
- Use data to optimize policies, driving better outcomes for Empower and our customers
- Design tests to measure effectiveness of new strategies where data is limited or non-existent
- Build financial models to provide detailed estimates and refine strategies
- Create automated systems to monitor business performance
- Become an expert in and owner of one or multiple subsections within the credit space
Candidate Qualifications
- B.S. degree in engineering, business, finance, computer science or mathematics
- 2+ years industry experience in data analytics, with a focus on using data to solve complicated and ambiguous problems
- Strong SQL abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on data driven story-telling for wide audiences
- Comfort with ambiguity; the ability to lay out and test clear hypotheses, and solve problems without well-defined direction
