The opportunity:
We're seeking a Staff Frontend Engineer with a passion for simplifying complex workflows and data handling, and building scalable frontend experiences to join our multi-disciplinary Shipping Solutions Team. This team builds tools for customers who use Flexport’s emerging Booking Management and Order Management systems to connect with their suppliers and contractors, putting you at the center of a developing product. This role is perfect for someone passionate about building tools for enterprise workflows and understanding global logistics. The successful candidate will be comfortable working as the sole Frontend Engineer on our team to drive our team’s vision and best practices for developing performant User Interfaces (UIs) that simplify the product tracking lifecycle for our customers. Familiarity with the logistics industry or manufacturing is a plus, but not required.
***This position requires attendance in the Bellevue office 3 days per week and 2 days of remote flexibility***
You will:
- Work closely with product managers, product designers, business stakeholders, and fullstack engineers to design and implement scalable, user-centric features and applications.
- Work with product designers to extend Flexport’s design principles to Order Management/Booking Management tools, including the redesign of existing UI components if needed.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers on the team.
- Ensure code quality and performance through code reviews, automated testing, and best practices.
- Provide feedback on design prototypes and wireframes to the product and business team to drive performant engineering solutions, and translate these designs into high quality code using modern frontend tools like React, GraphQL Federation, Cypress, etc.
You should have:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 7+ years of professional experience in frontend development, with a focus on building enterprise software products up through the middle layer.
- Expertise in modern frontend languages, frameworks, and libraries such as React, Angular, HTML, and CSS.
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and tools (e.g., Jest, Mocha, Cypress).
- Experience in optimizing applications for speed and scalability.
- Experience with logistics processes or building enterprise software a plus.
