The Opportunity

Our Security team is looking to hire a Senior Security Engineer to help build security solutions that will impact our newest products. This person will partner closely with engineering teams and leadership to ensure we continue creating a product that prioritizes security, privacy and ethics.

Work with device and software teams to:
- Implement fixes for security vulnerabilities
- Develop and implement defensive security measures
Develop, review, test, and debug APIs and system services
Assist with designing strategic innovations for security architecture
Lead security projects designed to improve the security posture of the Flock device ecosystem
Perform threat modeling on device security, share security recommendations, and refine the security design guidelines.

The Skillset

10+ years of experience working in software security roles such as application security, security engineering, product security, or security research
Experience in a dedicated software engineering role
The ability to read and write software in the following languages: Go, TypeScript, Python
Skilled in identifying vulnerability classes within complex code bases, performing root cause analysis, identifying remediation paths, conducting technical coordination with engineering resources and performing fix verification
Extensive experience in threat modeling and security architecture reviews
The ability to perform web application penetration tests, source code reviews, and application security audits
Experience auditing and performing security reviews of mobile API(s)

Nice to haves:

Experience working directly with hardware, specifically microcontrollers
Low level experience working with chipsets
Low level experience working with network protocols such as BLE and LTE
Linux internals (process scheduler, memory management, concurrency, synchronization, memory allocation, file system, networking, storage, subsystem architecture)

The Interview Process

Our First Chat: During this first conversation, you’ll meet with a recruiter to chat through your background, what you could bring to Flock, what you are looking for in your next role, and who we are.
The Hiring Manager Interview: You will meet with your potential future boss to really dive into the role, the team, expectations, and what success means at Flock. This is your chance to really nerd out with someone in your field.
The Panel: Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. Depending on the team and role you are interviewing for, you may meet with several teammates as well as cross-functional partners.
