Staff Product Designer
We’re hiring a Staff Product Designer to help shape the future of enterprise software in an AI-native company. Laurel transforms how professional services firms manage time. We’re building powerful tools for the operations and admin teams behind the scenes. These users work with complexity daily and deserve tools that are as thoughtful as they are powerful.
This role is about bringing clarity to complexity. You’ll design systems that feel intuitive, communicate your thinking with confidence and care, and collaborate across teams to move work forward with purpose.
It’s an exciting time to be a designer in AI—so much is opening up in the enterprise space. If you’re drawn to big challenges, energized by thoughtful collaboration, and ready to help us run toward this next chapter, we’d love to meet you.
This role is hybrid, based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with three days a week in the office for in-person collaboration.
Skills
Design for enterprise professional services firms
You’ll translate complexity into simplicity. Designing for enterprise customers (legal, accounting, consulting, etc.) requires clarity and confidence — handling edge cases, long-tail workflows, and advanced configuration needs. You’ll zoom out to think systemically and zoom in to sweat the details. Experience designing for legal, accounting, or compliance-heavy domains is a bonus.
Bring clarity to communication
At Laurel, great design decisions are backed with data and pragmatic conviction. You’ll bring a measured rationale to your work—rooted in user research, design principles, and iteration—and communicate it without overcomplicating.
Be a partner in AI design
Laurel is an AI-native company. You don’t need experience designing AI-powered products, but you do need a strong point of view on where UX and AI are headed—and curiosity about what’s possible. You’ll collaborate closely with our AI team to design smart, intuitive interactions that help users feel in control.
Lead end-to-end
From early research to polished UI, you’ll own the design process: synthesizing needs, creating flows and wireframes, prototyping, validating with users, and supporting implementation.
Build trust across the team
Success at Laurel isn’t just about output—it’s about how you show up. You’re kind and collaborative, the type of teammate who builds strong relationships and momentum. You bring energy and initiative to ambiguous moments, and you treat every cross-functional conversation as a design opportunity.
Must Haves
The following are our non-negotiables for candidates:
5+ years of product design experience at early stage, fast-moving startups (Series B–F preferred).
5+ years designing complex B2B enterprise SaaS applications.
Demonstrated experience designing and shipping end-to-end experiences with lots of moving parts, edge cases, and configuration needs.
Strong UX and UI craft—rooted in research, systems thinking, and crisp interaction design.
Experience working closely with PMs, engineers, and subject matter experts to ship high-quality work.
Comfort with user research, interviews, and feedback loops with professional users.
Skilled in Figma with a portfolio that shows strong UX reasoning, IA/taxonomy, B2B workflows, and a sensibility for visual design (layout, typography, color, imagery).
Deep interest in how professionals work—and the tools they need to work well.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Kind, curious, and driven. You bring people in.
