The Role
As Partiful's first Legal & Financial Operations Manager, you will be responsible for driving legal, operational and financial efficiency to help the company scale. This is a unique, hybrid role with a focus on legal responsibilities in addition to some finance-focused operations, with a focus on building scalable operational systems across both areas. The role will be essential in guiding our strategic legal direction as well as financial health.
In this role, you will:
Own basic legal and financial operations while developing processes to scale them, working closely with company leadership, our external counsel, and our accounting firm
Advise leadership on corporate governance matters, maintain proper corporate records, and ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, including vendor and partnership agreements, ensuring terms that protect the company’s interests
Identify, assess, and mitigate legal and compliance risks across the company, working closely with product and community teams
Develop and oversee privacy policies and procedures to ensure compliance with data protection regulations across various jurisdictions (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), working closely with our external counsel
Manage intellectual property strategy and protection, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights, working closely with our external counsel
Oversee employment law matters and ensure compliance with labor regulations and policies, working closely with our external counsel
Collaborate with and manage external legal advisors for specialized legal issues as needed
Lead basic budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes to support strategic decision-making and maintain financial health, while ensuring compliance with relevant financial and tax regulations
Monitor cash flow, optimize working capital, manage expenses, and compile necessary reporting for internal purposes and board meetings to support sustainable growth, based on reporting provided by our accounting firm
Support the CEO in fundraising activities, including helping to manage investor relations
Provide strategic guidance on financial, legal, and operational performance
You're likely a good fit if:
You have a JD from an accredited law school; (CPA, CFA, or MBA a plus but not required)
You’ve been admitted to practice law in New York
You have 4+ years of experience in a legal role, with ideally 1-2 years at a startup or high-growth environment
You have demonstrated experience in corporate law, contract negotiation, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance
You have a working understanding of financial planning, accounting, budgeting, and cash flow management (prior job experience a plus but not required)
You approach your work with a strategic and business-oriented mindset, focusing on practical solutions to legal, financial, and operational problems
You pride yourself on excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
You have strong written and verbal communication skills

The salary range for this role is $165,000-$185,000 plus equity; the specific offer package will be based on years of experience. Please note this is an in-person role with 3 days a week in person at our office in Brooklyn, New York.
