The Developer Platform’s mission is to empower our community of 3rd party developers and moderators to extend Reddit with useful and exciting features. We’ve built Reddit’s server driven cross-platform UI system, a serverless computing platform, as well as plugins (e.g. key-value storage, scheduler) for our developers to use. We’re looking for someone to contribute to our backend plugins and compute environment. This is a high impact role where you’ll be able to work on platform features that are immediately useful to our third party developer community, and will power experiences for millions of users on Reddit.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop a suite of plugins and capabilities that third party developers can use. For example, a distributed key-value storage system.
  • Work with gRPC, Go and Typescript to build out a serverless compute environment for untrusted code.
  • Build out APIs with GraphQL and Protobufs for our client developers.
  • Work with a combination of developer relations, technical writers and PMs to ship features for our community.

Who You Might Be

  • Interest in building products for developers
  • A connection Reddit, its users, and its community
  • 3+ years of experience in fast paced software development
  • Experience with one or more systems programming languages (e.g. Go, Java, Rust, C/C++).
  • Basic understanding of the Javascript ecosystem
  • Experience working with and managing data stores (relational, key-value, document stores)

In addition to base salary, this job is eligible to receive equity in the form of restricted stock units, and depending on the position offered, it may also be eligible to receive a commission. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, skills, depth of work experience and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below.

The base pay range for this position is:
$164,200$229,900 USD
