About the role:

This role requires a strong problem solver with significant technical and leadership skills. A successful candidate will have extensive experience in deploying and running highly scalable production systems. We require a unique individual who can code, can lead, and can quickly get a grasp of high-level potential issues.

What you will focus on:

Reporting to the VP of Infrastructure:

  • You will be required to manage your own time and understand where best to focus to help the business succeed.
  • You should be skilled in a wide array of monitoring, alerting and CI/CD tools and understand what is required to keep our systems running 24/7 for our customers.
  • We need someone who has been in the IT industry for many years and has worked with multiple parts of the software stack. You will need to understand as much of our environment as you can to make educated decisions on the best way forward with limited input.
  • As a Principal Engineer, you will collaborate closely with a focused group of other Principal Engineers at Zepz defining standards and architectures for our systems. You will also regularly be in communication with the rest of the senior leadership at Zepz and will need to present and take part in various forums.

What you bring to the table:

  • A service-focused mindset with a “can-do, will-do” attitude.
  • Outgoing with strong documentation, and communication skills, championing new initiatives and “thinking outside the box” with creativity.
  • A self-starter who picks up new technologies quickly and does not shy away from new challenges or unforeseen tasks.
  • Appreciate the working environment of a global organization incl. Diverse cultures and backgrounds that many of Zepz's workforce originate from.
  • Not just accept the status quo but challenge how we do things and bring fresh business beneficial ideas to the table and see them through
  • An engineer at heart with strong leadership skills.
  • A passion for new technologies
  • Coded in at least 1 JVM language
  • Experience with networking, linux, containers etc.
  • Experience with various databases, preferably SQL-based.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting.
  • Experience with microservices architecture
  • Experience with AWS, GCP or Azure
  • Good understanding of programming languages in general, the more the better.
  • Presentation skills and a good communicator
  • Good documentation skills
  • Strong organizational skills and happy to work with Vendors.
  • 15+ years of experience
  • Professional certifications are desirable i.e. Azure Administrator, AWS Certified, Google Certifications etc.
