The Role:
We’re looking for a best in class Controller to build out the function at Silo in a way that sets the business up to be IPO ready. We’re seeking an experienced and hands on manager to oversee and build a high-performing team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience as a controller in FinTech businesses or banking with expertise in lending and payments. As a strong communicator and skilled accounting manager, this person will set up our systems, our control framework and streamline our month-end close, payroll, and financial reporting processes. This role will report directly to our CFO.
Responsibilities:
-Create the controller’s function, which is currently outsourced
-Oversee the decisioning and implementation of a new General Ledger, ensuring the migration from Quickbooks to a more robust platform
-Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with US GAAP and regulatory requirements
-Define and implement an Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) framework
-Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
-Prepare and analyze financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
-Review direct and indirect tax returns which are performed by our outsourcing partners
-Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
-Leverage their expertise to help create an overall control and documentation framework at the company level
-Coordinate with auditors to ensure our annual audit processes are delivered seamlessly and on-time
Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
-10+ years of experience in accounting with several years as controller in charge
-Experience in the fintech or banking industries, more specifically payments and lending, is strongly preferred
-Experience in setting up Internal Control over Financial Reporting / SOX programs with a good understanding of both financial and operational controls
-Strong understanding of US accounting principles and regulations
-Experience in both private and public companies would be a plus
-Experience using various ERP systems and experience of system migrations
-Ability to be flexible and comfortable with evolving requirements
-Ability to handle multiple projects in a fast paced, hyper growth environment
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
